ASHRAE has developed the HBDP certification program in cooperation with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as a way of recognizing a design professional's expertise in the high performance building field. According to ASHRAE, designers who earn the HBDP certification have demonstrated a well-rounded understanding of how HVAC&R design is integrated into high performance buildings to achieve sustainable design.
